|House and Senate Pass Motions on Constitution|
Harare, 7 February 2013: Following the adoption of the draft Constitution of Zimbabwe by COPAC (Constitution Select Committee), the House of Assembly and the Senate passed a motion on the same on 6 and 7 February 2013 respectively.
This paves the way for a referendum, expected to be held in the coming months.
Meanwhile, translations of the constitution into local languages as well as civic education and other preparations have commenced.
At the request of the Government of Zimbabwe, the United Nations has been supporting the national constitution making process by providing technical support to COPAC and by managing a multi-donor basket fund.
