Support to capacity strengthening for the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC)

This project works towards strengthening the capacity of the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission for effective and efficient management of its duties in line with its mandate

Development Objectives

Strengthen the capacity of the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission for effective and efficient management of its duties. The support will seek to strengthen the institutional, structural, administrative and operational systems and processes. It will also support the planned human resource reform to enhance the capacity and expertise in the execution of its mandate; as well as improve the ICT and communication set ups. It is envisaged that this comprehensive capacity building programme for ZEC (2011-2012) will be supported by UNDP and other development partners as part of strengthening the governance architecture in Zimbabwe. 

Focuses on activities that lead to the following outcomes:

·         Improved electoral institution, administration and operational systems and set-ups for better coordination and management the affairs of the commission.

·         Enhanced the capacity and expertise of ZEC For increased professionalism

·         A well developed and established communication and ICT strategy

·         Project Management Unit established and effectively and provides technical support to ZEC
